Why 100 Microns Is the Tabletop Threshold
Most commercial penny sleeves run between 40 and 50 microns. At that thickness, sleeves stretch within five games, collect static oil from fingertips, and create air pockets that cause stacked draw decks to pitch forward and collapse. Our 100-micron specification uses biaxially oriented polypropylene that maintains dimensional rigidity. A 100-card sleeved stack sits completely vertical without leaning.
We test corner weld tensile strength at our Portland workshop using linear pull fixtures. Seams tolerate up to 14.2 Newtons of shear force before elongation, ensuring that aggressive mash shuffling does not split the lower side seams where card corners make repeated impact.
